Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy explains the standards for using the Collectaneum website, registry, mobile applications, imports, shared catalogue and related services (the “Service”). It forms part of our Terms of Service and should be read alongside the Service Terms.

Collectaneum is intended for genuine collectors to document, organise, research and preserve information about collectible items. It is not a marketplace or a general-purpose file hosting service.

Use the Service lawfully and respect the rights of other people. Do not use it to facilitate fraud, theft, threats, harassment, unlawful transactions or other illegal activity.

You must not upload material that is unlawful, malicious, deliberately deceptive, or that you do not have sufficient rights or permission to use. Collectaneum does not authorise the sale or transfer of any item merely because the item can be recorded in a collection.

Collectible categories may include historical, military or culturally sensitive objects. Documenting an object for legitimate collecting or research does not imply our endorsement of its history, message, legality or commercial trade. We may restrict content when reasonably necessary to comply with law or protect users.

Photographs, documents, research, import data, provenance, valuations and supporting evidence should have a genuine relationship to your collecting activity. Do not use your registry for unrelated mass storage, distributing files or hosting content for third parties.

You are responsible for ensuring that information you supply is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the rights to upload documents and photographs. A recorded ownership claim is not independent verification of legal title, authenticity or value.

Do not deliberately upload malware, harmful executables, corrupted files designed to exploit the Service, or material intended to compromise another user’s device.

You may submit products, variants, identifiers, descriptions, images or other material for possible inclusion in the shared catalogue. Draft or submitted records are not automatically approved; we may review, correct, reject or withdraw them.

Do not deliberately create duplicate or false records, invent identifiers, impersonate a manufacturer or owner, misrepresent provenance, or submit someone else’s copyrighted photographs or text without suitable rights. If you are uncertain about a fact, make that uncertainty clear.

An approved public catalogue record may be used by other collectors. It is separate from your private registry, and shared non-personal catalogue facts may be maintained after an account is deleted, subject to our Privacy Policy and applicable rights.

If you believe public material infringes your rights or contains a serious error, contact us with the record and an explanation. We will review the report and take proportionate action.

Collecting records can include information about sellers, previous owners and provenance. Only include another person’s details where reasonably necessary and appropriate. Do not publicly post private addresses, contact details, financial information or sensitive information without a proper basis.

Do not seek to access or reveal other collectors’ private registries, accounts, photographs or documents. Our Privacy Policy explains how Collectaneum handles personal information.

Keep account access secure and do not share credentials in ways that undermine account controls. Do not impersonate other users or attempt to gain access to accounts or systems without permission.

• Do not introduce malware, exploit known vulnerabilities or attempt to bypass authentication, permissions, row-level security or subscription controls.
• Do not intercept traffic, access another user’s records, disrupt availability or deliberately overload the Service.
• Do not test security against live systems without prior written authorisation, particularly where testing could expose personal data or affect other users.

If you discover a vulnerability, please follow our responsible disclosure guidance rather than attempting to exploit it.

Do not scrape the shared catalogue, enumerate accounts, harvest personal information, or use unauthorised bots to extract or bulk replicate the Service.

Reasonable ordinary use of supported import and export functionality is permitted. Automated API access, external integrations or high-volume requests require our permission unless we explicitly make an integration available for that purpose.

Do not bypass request limits, access controls or technical measures intended to protect third-party sources and platform stability.

Collectaneum is intended to accommodate legitimate collections of differing sizes and complexity. We do not treat a substantial genuine collection as misuse merely because it contains many items, photographs or supporting documents.

However, deliberately excessive uploads, unrelated files, repeated bulk operations or resource consumption that materially interferes with others or puts the Service at disproportionate risk may be investigated. We may apply reasonable technical limits or discuss a suitable remedy with you before restricting legitimate content where practicable.

Any published plan limits and material usage restrictions will be explained through the relevant service or subscription information. We will not describe an undisclosed numerical limit as though you had agreed to it.

We may investigate credible reports of misuse, remove or restrict particular content, request corrections, limit abusive activity or suspend accounts where reasonably necessary. The response will take account of severity, risk, repeated behaviour and whether a less restrictive measure is appropriate.

We may act immediately where there is a serious security risk, unlawful content or risk to another person. We may preserve relevant records or share information with competent authorities where legally required or justified.

Where practicable, we will explain the reason for a material restriction and provide a way to ask for a review through our Contact page. A restriction for misuse is different from ordinary subscription expiry or an account-deletion request.

Our actions do not remove applicable consumer rights or your rights concerning personal information.

We may update this policy as the Service develops or legal and security requirements change. We will publish the revised text and its effective date and provide appropriate notice of material changes. Changes do not remove rights already accrued under an existing consumer contract.
