Use Collectaneum like an app

Install Collectaneum

Add Collectaneum to your computer, phone or tablet for faster access, a dedicated app window and a familiar icon on your desktop or Home Screen.

There is no separate account or copied collection. The installed app uses the same secure Collectaneum service, records and photographs as the website.

If your browser cannot open the installation dialog directly, the device instructions below show the manual steps.

One service on every device

What installation changes

Installation gives Collectaneum its own launch icon and app window. It removes ordinary browser clutter and makes returning to your collections more direct.

It does not create a second version of your collection and it does not currently provide offline synchronisation. An internet connection is still required to load and update live collection records.

Installation instructions by device

The steps differ slightly because Apple, Google, Microsoft and browser vendors control how web apps are added to each device.

iOS

iPhone & iPad

Install Collectaneum from Safari so it opens from your Home Screen like an app.

  2. 2Tap the Share button.
  3. 3Choose Add to Home Screen.
  4. 4Turn on Open as Web App.
  5. 5Tap Add.

Apple requires this short manual process; websites cannot trigger the iPhone installation dialog directly.

Android

Android phones & tablets

Install from Chrome or another supported browser and launch Collectaneum from your Home Screen.

  2. 2Tap the browser menu.
  3. 3Choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
  4. 4Confirm the installation.

When supported, the install button near the top of this page opens the browser installation dialog directly.

Install Collectaneum through Edge or Chrome for its own window, Start menu entry and taskbar icon.

  2. 2Choose Install Collectaneum from the address bar or browser menu.
  3. 3Confirm the installation.
  4. 4Pin Collectaneum to the taskbar or Start menu if useful.

The installed app uses the same account, collections and live data as the website.

Install Collectaneum from a supported browser and keep it in your Dock or Applications folder.

  2. 2Use the browser's Add to Dock or Install option.
  3. 3Confirm the app name and installation.
  4. 4Open Collectaneum from the Dock or Applications folder.

The exact wording varies by browser and macOS version.

A practical extension of the website

Start on one device and continue on another

You can install Collectaneum on more than one device. A collection updated on your phone remains available from your computer because each installation connects to the same account and live registry.

Removing the installed app does not delete your Collectaneum account or collection data. You can continue through the website or install it again later.
